Not Bad for a Girl Goin’ Nowhere
As 2024 winds down, I find myself reflecting on one of the year’s most defining moments. It was a warm evening in Nashville at the Rare Bird, where I had the honor of soft-launching my campaign for AAJ Parliamentarian. The memory of that night is set to the backdrop of Ashley McBryde’s Girl Goin’ Nowhere, a song that captures the resilience and determination of pursuing a dream against all odds.
Standing in that room, I was surrounded by a blend of familiar faces and new ones—members of my AAJ family who have supported me throughout my journey. The energy was electric, and I felt a deep sense of connection with everyone there. It wasn’t just a gathering; it was a celebration of shared values, goals, and the bonds that unite us.
But the moment that truly filled my heart with pride and purpose was seeing my twins, Max and Ella, standing strong beside me. Their presence was a powerful reminder of why I do what I do. As I addressed the room, I couldn’t help but think about the legacy I want to create for them—a legacy of passion, integrity, and the belief that with hard work and determination, anything is possible.
That evening was also a testament to the love and support of my wife, whose unwavering encouragement gave me the strength to take this step. Her belief in me fuels my resolve, and her partnership makes everything feel achievable.
Looking back, the night was more than just a campaign launch—it was a moment of clarity and purpose. It solidified my desire to stand for Parliamentarian in July 2025 and to continue working hard for the AAJ community, a family that has given me so much.
As I move forward, I carry the joy and gratitude from that night. The song Girl Goin’ Nowhere may play in my head, but the truth is, I feel like a woman going everywhere—powered by the support of my loved ones, my AAJ family, and the belief that together, we can achieve great things.
Here’s to 2025 and the journey ahead.
